a wedding: serena & dave

Check it! A bright and breezy wedding with rich corals, pale green gum and soft peach dahlias. I had the loveliest time meeting up with Serena for her wedding - thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

a wedding: xenia & simeon

Sometimes my involvement with a wedding is just being there to do whatever bits a pieces need doing on the day. This was one of those weddings, and it was such a joy to be able to hang out at the brides house on the morning of the wedding, making flower crowns & buttonholes, drawing up a seating chart, eating pastries and being a part of the joyous buzz.

[Hopefully] by now you'll recognise the incredible handiwork of my photographer friend & genius, Linda Truong. She just has this way of capturing tender moments, rich colours and dreamy light.

Oh! And I made a cake and covered it in flowers. The mother of the bride bought all the flowers for this wedding by choosing colours that she thought best encapsulated the personality of her daughter - how sweet is that?!

There are tonne more photos after the jump.

secret's out

A couple of months ago I got to work on something really exciting. It was all a little hush-hush and I was under strict instructions that I wasn't allowed to post about it until after the press releases... but now, finally, the secret is out!

On January 5th, my dear high school friend, Bec, who is kind of a big deal (see herehere
and here) got married! A few months beforehand she asked me to make her a cake to go with her rustic, bush themed wedding. After a series of excited emails we decided on two different flavours: dark chocolate mud and a honey, lavender & white chocolate mud. Here it is as featured in New Idea Magazine.

Believe it or not, this cake took a few days and a whole lotta' butter to make! I baked them, glued them together in pairs with ganache, crumb coated them and boxed them up to make sure they would survive the two hour drive down to the Kangaroo Valley. I whipped up a truckload of thick vanilla buttercream to ice it with (it was an extremely hot day so I made it extra thick to avoid it melting) and armed myself with my trusty palette knife and loaded it all in the car.  My partner-in-baking, Sally, accompanied me for the ride and provided an extra pair of hands in assembling the cake at the venue.  We had our own little bench to work on and the incredible florrie sisters to dress it up with ivy and flowers.

Isn't she just stunning?

Apart from the magazine shot, all the photos were taken by the incredibly talented Magnus Agren. Click below for some more beautiful shots!

a wedding & a baker's dozen

Sometimes when people ask me what I do with my life, the words 'I'm a wedding planner' almost slip out! I'm not actually a wedding planner although it seems like I'm continuously involved in one wedding or another.

This wedding was particularly close to my heart, and I couldn't keep myself away from it. Check out these photos by the incredibly talented Linda Truong who captured all the magic!

Aren't they just lovely?
